National Service Scheme (NSS), a permanent student youth programme, was implemented in educational institutions with financial assistance from the central and state governments, with a ratio of 7:5 in 1969. The same has now been included in the Central Sector Schemes with 100% grants from the Government of India.
The motto of NSS is “Not Me But You”. The objective is to develop the Personality of Student Youth through Community Service. This programme’s wide range of activities aims to inculcate positive values, develop leadership qualities, national integration & social harmony, promote healthy lifestyles, enhance employability skills, etc. These activities are carried out in two major areas, namely, Regular and Special Camping Programmes.
